Little Town Academy is owned and operated by two certified Florida teachers, Kaitlyn Burgess and Tristan Thiel. Kaitlyn and Tristan have multiple years of teaching experience between the two of them. They both share a love for teaching with different educational backgrounds. Kaitlyn and Tristan both believe in the importance of building a strong foundation from the beginning of a child's educational career. They have unfortunately witnessed the academic struggles of their own students in the classroom due to their lack of skills in literacy and math concepts learned from an early age. This is why Kaitlyn and Tristan have made it their goal to ensure all Little Town Academy's students have a strong educational foundation prior to entering kindergarten.
Kaitlyn has a Master's Degree in Teacher/Educational Leadership as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. This allowed her to be an Assistant Principal for three years as well as an elementary school teacher for almost a decade. Kaitlyn's Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education allows her to teach all ages under 11.
Tristan has a Bachelor's Degree in Science Education, which allowed him to teach Middle School science for three years. He also obtained a CDA (Child Development Associate) credential, which allows to him to teach all ages below six years old.
Little Town Academy will be the leading example on how all academic preschools should be structured when providing early learning experiences as well as enjoyment in our communities' youth.
Our mission is to put our students in the top 10 percent of academic achievement by using a curriculum that is heavily endorsed by research and classroom procedures in order to prepare students for kindergarten.
Children come here to develop their minds in the most efficient ways.
The role of the teacher is to be a guide to help children meet developmentally appropriate milestones through inspired learning.
Children must be creative in every aspect of life and should never be encouraged otherwise.
Classroom procedures enforce safety, when safety is achieved fun can begin!
Children must receive at least four pieces of positive feedback before listening to one element of critique.
Teachers and families should work together as partners in both teaching and assessing children.
Children can be guided to develop self-control by learning to manage their bodies and emotions.
VPK will be offered at Little Town Academy starting in August 2025. Please reach out for additional information on how to enroll your child.
